Micronik: PC mouse adapter.

Back to AmiWorld Home Page One of the little good things of the PC world is the low price of the products, that's common knowledge.
But, thanks to companies like Micronik, we can make use of PC peripherals on ours loved Amiga.
The object that we will go to examine today is a PC mouse adapter.

PACKAGE
The adapter has come to us in a transparent envelope and with a piece of photocopied paper in Italian from DB-LINE srlcompany. The instructions explain how is simple and "painless" to be able to make use of the right now little expensive PC mouses (even if at PIANETA AMIGA original Amiga mouses could be found with £ 6000!! [about 3 Euros NdR]).

INSTALLATION
The adapter has a lengthened shape with two 9 pins "connections" (hemm!) classics of the mouse. In one side it comes inserted the mouse, and in the other our AMIGA (how will we manage to move a 4000 equipped of a lot of everything?!! ndCRYSTIAL).

Fortunately there is no need of additional software! Our AMIGA will find the mouse already to its ignition.

THE TEST
After we have connected a MICROSOFT (ARGHHHHHH!) Mouse with three keys we are passed immediately to the test with the boot-screen of Amiga (pressing the two push-buttons at the same time).
Miracle!!!! Our Amiga has recognized the mouse without spi... (sorry! ndFREDDY) I said... recognized the mouse without problems. we have started the WB using the above mentioned mouse with all the software that we had to disposition like I-Browse 1.22, 2.5 Art-Effect etc... noticing the total compatibility and without strange crashes.

Is our intention to test the adapter also with the most common mouses with 3 keys of bulks: price of 9900 [About 5 Euros NdR].
The mouse in issue has acted much best of the Microsoft one (atchoom!!) (good health!! Are you allergic to Billone Cancelli? ndCrystial) giving a more comfortable grip and a better compatibility with the adapter in issue.

APPRAISAL
At the first look it would seem that this mouse adapter is the total solution to our problems (in particular of deigners, that destroy a mouse every 35 days...) Unfortunately the product is not free from defects: sometimes the pointer seems to jam. Fortunately is enough to press the central key to unlock it. For the diagrams is an atrocious annoyance!! Imagine a mouse that stalls while you touch up a photography...

For the common customer, instead, the adapter is "a godsend from the sky" that will allow you to save much: to the high price of an AMIGA mouse go added also the shipment costs. Particularly advised to whom that destroys frequently mouses (in virtue of the price not so accessible of such apparatus).

Configuration of the test:

  • A1200 PPC 603/200Mhz 68040/25Mhz
  • B-VISION PPC
  • Tower ATEO CONCEPTS
  • HD IDE 4G1, HD IDE 1G1 LINUX
  • CDROM 48x IDE
  • IOMEGA ZIP 100 IDE.

A footnote by the reviewer: If you would have to use this adapter, do not act like me that I have bought a LittleSoft mouse but throw yourselves on a economic ergonomic studied mouse .
